Modern Slavery Statement

At CNG Fuels Ltd (company registration number 09274291) (the “Company”), we strive to ensure that we trade ethically, source responsibly and work to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking throughout our organisation and in our supply chain. This statement highlights the key activities undertaken during this financial year to combat modern slavery in our organisation and supply chain. We are committed to improving our practices to combat slavery and human trafficking.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and is intended to cover all of the Company’s subsidiaries within the meaning of such Act.

Our business

The Company operates the UK’s largest network of public access CNG refuelling stations for HGVs. RTFS is an affiliate of the Company, which is headquartered in the Hague in the Netherlands and is Europe’s largest supplier of unsupported biomethane to the transport sector. The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Refuels N.V., which was formed in the Netherlands and listed on Euronext Growth Oslo in 2023 to form a European fully integrated renewable energy supplier for commercial transport.

Our supply chain

The risk of service providers in this this industry being involved in slavery and/or human trafficking is considered to be low. Notwithstanding the low risk of modern slavery in our business sector, the Company is committed to ensuring that we do not permit practices such as modern slavery or human trafficking within our business or our supply chain.

The Company has zero tolerance to slavery and human trafficking. The Company will not enter into any business arrangement with any person, company or organisation which fails to uphold the human rights of its workers or who breach the human rights of those affected by the organisation’s activities.

We deal only with reputable suppliers of goods and services carry out due diligence on any new counter parties to ensure that they are committed to ethical labour practices. We include anti-slavery and human tracking provisions in all our contracts with service providers.

Our supply chains include those relating to the development, operation, and maintenance of our CNG refuelling network.
To help identify and monitor the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our supply chain we believe that ongoing communication with these counterparties satisfies the requirements of the Act due to the low nature of the risk.

Our policies on slavery and human trafficking

The Company is committed to ethical trading principles and to acquiring goods and services without harm to others.

We comply with all applicable laws and regulations and conduct our activities in line with our core values of honesty, integrity, and respect. We have appropriate policies in place that underpin our commitment to ensure there is no slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. We regularly review our internal policies and processes relevant to modern slavery, which are in place:

  • Code of Ethics; and
  • Sustainability and ESG Policy.

As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risk, we have implemented supplier due diligence checks to verify our supply chain’s compliance with laws and the steps which our supply chains and contractors take to comply with modern slavery and human rights laws.

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business, the Company also provides training to employees.

Our effectiveness in combating slavery and human trafficking

We use the following key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure how effective we have been to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains:

  • Relevant policies are in place and undergo regular review in relation to Human Rights, Equality and Diversity and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.

To maintain awareness and ensure understanding of the risks, our Modern Slavery Policy Statement is included in our Code of Ethics.
We recognise our responsibilities in this area and are committed to taking a robust approach in the event that slavery and human trafficking presents itself either in our business or as part of our supplier network.

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending March 2023.
